The Abbott of Great Dharma Chan Monastery, Master Jian Tan Shifu, will preside over this event.
10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Reciting the Universal Gateway of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Grand Meal Offering to the Buddha/ Blessing Ceremony/ Dharma Talk and Offering to the Sangha. Red envelopes will be provided for making an offering to the Monastic Sangha.
12:00 PM
Striking the Blessing Bell. This is an opportunity for lay practitioners and to invite the Monastery's Blessing Bell. We invite all blessings for living beings. We hope to bring peace and harmony to us all. After this we will offer a light to the Buddha. This removes misfortune and increases our merits and wisdom.
Vegetarian Lunch

We offer the merits of our practice to our departed loved ones during this traditional Buddhist Ceremony.
2:30-3:00 PM
Three Refuges Transmission Ceremony - Taking Refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is a formal process set up by the Buddha. This is to officially become Buddhist. You will also receive a Dharma Name from the Master. You are invited to participate or to observe. Please register with Jian Chi Shifu if you would like to Take Refuge at 936-433-7696.
